About the rock behind Mama Rocks
As a mama and a jeweler I was tired of having my girls pull and tug at my good stuff -not just my jewelry but my hair, clothing, and other body parts! Women who were purchasing my jewelry had the same problem. So an idea was born and I soon discovered that Mama Rocks invited some playful, nurturing times along with the opportunity to continue wearing jewelry.
It was my interest in semi-precious gemstones, the creative process, and an overwhelming need to be a better mother, that I was driven to quit my career and start my own business.
In January 2007 I gave birth to Synergy Jewelry. Mama Rocks evolved shortly thereafter. But I must credit my mama friends who pushed and guided me into creating Mama Rocks. It was, after all, those mamas who challenged me to create something for our loving babies to play with while they nursed. From there, Mama Rocks grew; and well, they are just an experience you and your little one will have to enjoy for yourselves!
So who am I? I am a mother, wife, artist, spiritualist, and entrepreneur. I met my husband almost ten years ago while I worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in his native country in the Eastern Caribbean. It was there I began to explore jewelry-making using indigenous seeds. Several years later, as our family began to grow we decided to stop traveling and settle down in my native town of Santa Barbara, California.
I have had a career in International Development and Mediation. My passion for breastfeeding began 8 years ago when I worked for UNICEF in Micronesia. My vision is to see all new moms breastfeed a year or longer. Mama Rocks has helped me with my little one, who insists I put it one whenever it's off!
Wishing you all the best,
Elizabeth
